Flash Coming to iPhone Next Thursday

Apple has just approved a new iOS application from Skyfire which converts Flash-based video to HTML5, according to CNNMoney. The App scheduled to hit the App Store by the next Thursday. The app technicality based on activating a function that allows Flash video content in the browser to be sent to Skyfire's servers to be converted to HTML5 then sent back to your iOS device for display.

The app won't translate games or other non-video content that runs in Flash, however. Still, Glueck estimates that the number of websites and videos that Skyfire will open up to iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch users is in the "millions."

This app will be prices $2.99, really it worth try, as usual we will keep you informed about any updates for this. [via MacRumors]

Chrome OS Ported to iPad with Flash Support

A web developer and hacker called Hexxeh, has successfully ported Chromium OS on the iPad, Hexxeh is 17 years old, he is well-known developer and hacker in the Chrome field,  for now we only have one screen-shot for that feat success, the image showing Chromium OS running on iPad. For those who don't know the Chromium OS, it is the open source version of Chrome OS.

 

Skyfire Submits First Mobile Browser That Can Play Flash Video to App Store

It was just two days ago for some rumors about a web browser from Skyfire that can view flash content on the iPhone. That's true! According to press release published today, Skyfire has submitted a mobile browser to Apple's App Store capable of playing Flash video while adhering to all Apple's guidelines regarding HTML5 open-video standards on Apple devices.

SkyFire for iPhone was developed following all guidelines of Apple, including the use of Safari and WebKit shared with streaming H.264. The application works just turning and "translating" millions of Flash content in HTML5 format via a dedicated server. Supports devices with IOS and avoids all the problems that may occur when scrolling a web page containing this technology.

The app is expected to be approved within a week or two weeks! But may be Apple will reject this app although there's no reason to reject it. Stay tuned and we will keep you informed.

How to: Install Flash / Frash on iPhone 4 via Cydia [Automatic Method]

We already covered how to install Frash on all Apple devices by using a difficult method through downloading a .deb file and shshing through your Mac to install it on your device! But now there's an easy and automatic method to Install Frash on your device via Cydia repoo without need to connect your device to computer and do some difficult steps. Check the easy guide below to install Frash via Cydia repo,
Steps:
Step 1: Your device must be jailbroken, you can follow the guide posted here to jailbreak iPhone 4 using JailbreakMe 2.0 "Star".
Step 2: Navigate to Cydia on your Home screen, then touch on “Manage --> Sources”
Step 3: Touch on “Edit” and then on “Add”. Type http://repo.benm.at then hit “Add Source”.

Step 4: Now, go ahead and search for "Frash" then install it

Note: Your Device has to be jailbroken, you can follow the guide posted here to jailbreak iPhone 4 and guide posted here to jailbreak iPad using JailbreakMe 2.0 "Star". By the way, it works on all iPhones / iPods / iPads.

Steps:
Step 1: Install OpenSSH from Cydia by navigating to Search tab in Cydia and search for "OpenSSH" then install it.
Step 2: Connect your iPhone with your computer. Make sure iTunes is not running.
Step 3: Install Cyberduck for Mac or WinSCP for Windows, and enter the following details to log in:
Cyberduck

• Server: The IP address of your iPhone/iPad/iPod touch. Settings –> WiFi –>
• Username: root
• Password: alpine
• Protocol: SFTP (SSH File Transfer Protocol)

WinSCP

• Hostname: The IP address of your iPhone/iPad/iPod touch. Setting –> WiFi –>
• User name: root
• Password: alpine
• Protocol: SCP

Step 4: Navigate to /var/root/Media directory and create a folder named “Cydia”. Inside this Cydia folder, create another folder and name it “AutoInstall” and copy the Frash-0.02.deb file (Download link at the end of the post)
Step 5: Restart your iPhone and enjoy Flash on your Safari browser by click on the “Flash” text to play the Flash content.

Apple Showcase HTML5

Apple has just published a new Page on it's Website known as "HTML5 showcase" which is compatible with most of devices including iPad (WOW). They encourage developers to Use HTML5 instead of Flash. They show why Flash is no longer necessary by the Demos on the site.

As mentioned in the website, they don't need Flash anymore on their Devices, in April Steve Jobs wrote some thoughts about Flash and why they don't need it. Also they mentioned the following:

Standards aren’t add-ons to the web. They are the web.

This means that HTML5 is mature enough for wide adoption, and sites which require add-ons to display content are a thing of the past. In an obvious jab at Flash. [via Padgadget]
